The Room is a simple box, made of the same grey Generic Surface as most of HQ. On the wall opposite the door is a painted symbol, with a message underneath it.
Symbol of order and chaos. The unpredictability of the Antigravity Apple balanced by the fractal organisation of the Five-Fronded Fern.
As soon as you enter the Room, a message blares out over a hidden speaker.
Welcome, brave believer. Since you know the power of Legal, you must be aware that the very act of entering this Room has brought you to the attention of Legal. If you would avert their response, make the sign of the Legal Chao and leave immediately.
In case you are somehow unaware of the proper way to make the Sign, instructions are provided on the noticeboard to your right.
The first and largest form of the Sign of the Legal Chao is made with the forefinger in the air over the chest. The Sign is drawn from the top of the circle, all the way around the circumference, and then straight down to the terminal point. This form of the Sign is used to ward off the attention of Legal when you believe you have attracted it. Modified versions for alternate anatomical models are available on request. | The two-handed form of the Sign, seen here, is used to ward another being against Legal's attention. It should be created with both hands stretched out in front of the body, the one hand forming a circle of fingers, the other crossing it vertically. One-handed entities may use the one-handed version for this purpose, held in like manner. | The one-handed form of the Sign seen above is used in the manner of a good-luck charm, and should be made to protect yourself against the actions of another, should those actions draw the attention of Legal on the both of you. In order not to affront others, the Sign - a circle formed of the thumb and middle finger, with the forefinger crossing it vertically - may be made with the hand in any position, including in a pocket or behind one's back. |
You may note that none of the Signs capture the complexity of the full Legal Chao. Nevertheless, the symbolism of the Chao is still contained therein. The disorder is indicated by the loss of the symbols on left and right, while the straightening of the curved central line represents the order also given by the Fern. |
